Meet The Founder
Yona Oyegun-Masade
After over 10 years in the publishing industry first as COO and Managing Editor of Kachifo Limited and then as Principal Consultant at N’Ko Media, Yona started Cocoa Bean Books to champion and expand African representation in the children’s publishing space.
Yona plans to achieve this in three ways:
- Placing African characters at the heart of our stories
- Giving talented African writers and illustrators a platform to share their art with the world
- Advancing African aesthetics in children’s books
As a mom and former teacher, Yona shares the experience of parents, teachers, librarians and booksellers who really want more diversity on their bookshelves. We know you will be especially thrilled by our growing catalogue.
